With BEBO NORMAN having a radio hit song about Britney Spears at the time I'm writing this, how many other cCm acts have recorded songs about general market singers for whom said cCm'ers have empathy (generally)?

Coming to my mind are DANA KEY's open letter of a tune to Eric Clapton about E.C.'s then-recently deceased son, THE SWIRLING EDDIES' musing
about a-not-yet-dead Elvis  Presley outdoors, KJ-52 rapping cautionary to Eminem and THE NOISY LITTLE SUNBEAMS-the old band of current INPOP
RECORDS executive DALE BRAY-warning Madonna to "Turn or Burn."  I suppose we could count LARRY NORMAN name-checking Alice Cooper and
David Bowie for their transvestite tendencies in "Reader's Digest," too, couldn't we?

Any others you can tell me? Let me know already!

Any of you out there ever heard (or if you're a radio DJ, played) THIRD DAY's and NICKLEBACK's songs about being a rock star back-to-back? That seems like a natural. I am having a slight case of deja vu about having asked that question in this space already, so sorry if I have.

If only because they've been on my mind since I purchased and have been listening to (for review in a couple of publications, including my first for Goldmine-yay!) their recent import-only box set, doesn't it seem that THE KINKS have had a whole slew of songs that come from a sufficiently Judeo-Christian worldview for them to be remade by cCm arists, or at least Christian-comprised general market acts? Know of any, readers? That's another reason to write me!

Speaking of THE KINKS again, did anyone reading this feel a mite weird when their probably brilliant Christmas single, "Father Christmas," was played through the satellite radio feed at your local Pizza Ranch this past holiday season? Considering the eatery chain's Christian business ministry mandate, I could appreciate the songs lyrics about the poor getting presents. Other of the number's sentiments? Not quite so much.

How many churches within a 15-mile radius of you have screened Fireproof now that its big screen run is long over and it's available on home video? It's two and counting in my environs. Not that I'm opposed to it; I'm just counting.

Doesn't ASHER ROTH, he of "I Love College" fame/infamy, sound like a dumbed down, secularized JOHN REUBEN (who, now that I'm writing about
him, seems about due to drop a new longplayer, doesn't he)?

Which will happen first? An ex-member of 'N-SYNC will become Christian (and record a solo album as a believer) or a member of PLUS ONE, BROTHER'S KEEPER and/or TRUE VIBE will release a major Christian market label album.

Speaking of young(ish) male harmonizers, might new R&B gospel group G.I. do now what TAKE 6 and COMMISSIONED  (and you'd best believe both
groups had general market influence) did back in the '80s-early '90s? I can see it happening.

Wouldn't it have been more loving (though tough and politically incorrect) of MILEY CYRUS to have witnessed biblically to PEREZ HILTON about (his) homosexuality than to affirm it as being OK in light of her and HEIDI MONTAG's Twittering to the blogger's kvetching about CARRIE PREJEAN's semi-articulate defense of traditional man-woman marriage?

And speaking of MISS CALIFORNIA USA PREJEAN, wouldn't her semi-articulation defending biblical matrimony have carried more weight were it not uttered during a contest with a swimsuit competition? How about allowing for one-piece beachwear for apparently modest contestants such as Prejean?

And how about pop-Christendom's media being more discerning as to who and what they applaud, even in the dearth of general market media that affirm godly values and  and homo-centric celebloggers such as Hilton denigrating those who stand up for same?

What, if any, mixed signals, do MARY MARY send by having non-holy hip-hop rappers KANYE WEST and COMMON (and no, attending JEREMIAH
WRIGHT's church doesn't really count, as COMMON has said he once regularly did)  give high-profile cameos in one of their recent music videos? And how does working the runway at a fashion show necessarily communicate the Gid in MM's Campbell sisters and trio-making KIKI SHEARD, to paraphrase the tItle of the video's song? At least there are a couple good shots of West's way cute gal pal, AMBER ROSE.

And on the subject of Wright, was I the only listener to public radio game show Wait! Wait! Don't Tell Me! disappointed a while ago to hear MAVIS STAPLES speak of regularly attending the aforementioned Black Liberationist pastor's church? Here's praying for her future spiritual discernment, but am still loving her voice!

Whatever happened to the great (and not because he's from my state of Wisconsin) BILL MILLER having a Christian market label deal? One album for Integrity Music in 2000, then nothing. Christian market-wise, at least. He's too good to not share with his kin in Christ, I say!

Were Susan Boyle to have aimed for a Christian market label deal, would she have had any better shot than she might have had landing a general market (pop or classical) company contract...at least before Britain's Got Talent shot her to viral video celebrity? There was a time when cCm/gospel notoriety didn't hinge on having glamor-puss looks.

How much sense does it make for NEWSBOYS to have a different singer in concerts than in the studio?  Will let you know soon enough, Lord willing!
