Director: Kate Churchill
Scriptwriters: Kate Churchill and Jonathan Hexner

Running Length: 81 minutes

Kate Churchill, a yoga fan, decided to make a documentary on just that, yoga. She chose journalist Nick Rosen, who hadn’t done yoga before, to begin this stretching exercise. He found that numerology is, sometimes, a part of it. Along the way, Nick traveled through India to study the origins of yoga and speak with yoga experts there.

No seems to know just how old yoga is. During an amusing set, interviewed people say anywhere from 2000 years to 40,000 years. There are various reasons for liking yoga from exercise to a spiritual experience. In India, a yogi master is sometimes looked upon as a bogeyman.

In Enlighten Up! there are scenes of yoga classes in various studios, including one by former wrestler Diamond Don Page, now living on the West Coast. Don says yoga has helped his back problems and now teaches the class with an irreverent sense of humor.

The film will introduce the novice to yoga, an exercise plan that can be utilized alone on a mat. Fans of yoga may see themselves in yoga classes and there are various forms of attire. The narration is rather bland and what is interesting in this documentary are Rosen’s travels to India.
