Veggie Tales: Minnesota Cuke and the Search for Noah’s Umbrella
50 min.
Big Idea Productions

A thinly veiled homage to the Indiana Jones movies, Minnesota Cuke is out to pursue another Biblical artifact Noah’s Ark.  Our  show opens with Larry the Cucumber being dismayed because other kids were laughing at him while he was praying.  Coincidentally, Minnesota Cuke is tired of being laughed at for trying to do the right thing.

The father of Little Miss Muffet is building a Bible theme park, and hires Cuke to find the original Noah’s ark to complete his project. Cuke decides to take on this task, as he finds out his mentor, Professor Rattan, may be in danger.  So, off to Mexico, to the city of El Pez (City of Candy Dispensers).  Cuke then meets up with former love interest Julia.  A few song and dance numbers later, Cuke gets laughed at again.  In the midst of all of this, he discovers the real treasure in Noah’s umbrella, not the ark.

The clues take the pair to an ancient pyramid, where Julia gets kidnapped by the Professor’s evil twin brother, Wicker.  Somehow this takes everyone to Turkey.  Lots of obscure clues are veiled within old movies.  Minnesota continues to battle against his self-preservation, and find a way to solve the mystery at the same time.  Based on Proverbs  29:25, the lessons here concern serving God versus giving into peer pressure.

The bonus Silly Song with Larry is “Sippy Cup,” co-written by Steve Taylor.  Without giving anything away, this is one of the funnier shorts in several years.
