Love Is on the Move Artist: Leeland Label: Essential Tracks: 12 Tracks/50.02 Minutes Progressive pop worship band Leeland returns in potent form on Love Is on the Move, their third CD. Leeland has an earnest, heartfelt style that is undeniably genuine; their worship anthems are fresh, touching, and simple. Love Is on the Move deftly weaves a message of praise with prayer and love for mankind surrounded by a fresh piano based brit-pop sound produced by Ed Cash and Steve Wilson. Leeland Moorning’s warm, bright and smooth vocals lend an air of authentic desire to the songs; and the band provides a solid sonic foundation that engages and delights the listener. The songwriting depth of this young band shows maturity on Love Is on the Move. An example is “Pure Bride” – a song that begins with a dream-like verse, swells to a mighty anthem, and then fades gently away. Also of note is the power pop of “Via Dolorosa.” The song begins as a piano prayer and quickly heads into a jaunty, Verve-esque slice of pop worship. Leeland also pushes the rock envelop on Love Is on the Move with the stomp-rock of “New Creation.” Love Is on the Move is a step forward for Leeland and deserves a place in the collection of the modern worship fan. I expect this one to be big, big, big and deservedly so. Full of genuine worship, memorable musical moments, vertical lyrics and powerful vocals, Love Is on the Move hits all the right buttons.
