Length: 15 tracks/59:01

Once a high school theology teacher and third world country volunteer, Paradox admits he is, well, just that: a paradox. "Yo, this is for everyone whose life is easily partially or fully comprised of conflicts of contradictions. Including me, so aptly named," from "Put 'Em Together."

Called To Mind, his sophomore release, has the help of a bevy of friends including Sev Statik, EOE Family, Gina Chavez and is produced by Elliot B who has worked with such heavyweights as Josh Martinez, Qwul, 2Mex, Eyedia and fellow Portland residents, The Sandpeople.

Paradox's strength is his way with words. To quote even the most catchy snippets would fill the page. Phrases just jump out and are gone, but pretty quickly another catches your ear. A definite wordsmith who makes so many statements and sports a multitude of ideas that your interest is continually peaked. Subjects include living a double life, overcoming discouragement and living the Christian life.

Sound wise, things tend to get a little bit drone-y at times.  Paradox's vocal presentation leans to KJ-52, John Reuben and the like.

A favorite is "Obstacles." Over a music bed of "It's Your Thing," Paradox spews out truth after truth in his forthright and humorous manner:

"I see the signs to free these minds as overdue, so leave behind the evil times when no one moved. the key to peace is combining beats and rhymes, but the golden rule's usually pursued by a chosen few."

If you like wordplay, this Paradox is for you.
