Into
the Light
Artist: Phil Stacey Length: 11 tracks /37:00 http://www.philstacey.com American Idol Season 6 finalist Phil Stacey's second release, Into the Light, his first for Reunion Records, celebrates faith and family. After releasing his self titled country pop album last year, Stacey understands people's questions about his musical change of direction. He explains that his biggest hope has always been to draw people to the Lord. Not so odd since Stacey is a son of a pastor, a grandson of two pastors and a one-time music minister himself. Teaming up with producer Brown Bannister has helped Stacey tap into his love for the church and modern musical expression. "You're Not Shaken," the first single, shows Stacey's vocal versatility-from the "biggness" that he is known for to the intimate and intense fervor that is bound to catch most listeners right by the heart. Much the same could be said of the opener "From the Inside Out." Stacey has a voice loaded with believability, capable of head and heart turning performances. There are touches of Russ Taff's incredible angst ridden vocals and the quiet, breathy, personal sounds of Bart Millard. Throughout Into the Light, the listener experiences lyrics that put their full trust and alliance in the Lord, melody laden songs presented musically with a mighty conviction. More than music, the album is a devotional, leading us "Into the Light." Bob Felberg
