Begin
the Revolution
Artist: Disaffection Label: Bombworks Records Time: 10 tracks/36:32 min. Fans of classic thrash have a new friend in Disaffection - a band that is sweating the big four thrash bands from every pore of their bodies. Throw in a healthy dose of Exodus and lean heavy to the Slayer side of metal and you pretty much have Begin The Revolution. Disaffection pummels you from the first song and rarely lets up for ten tracks, except for the occasional short intro here and there (and the song "The End of Beginning" which is more like growled spoken word over keyboards and war noises). Occasionally I found myself thinking that this is what Sacrament might have sounded like if they went further in a thrash metal direction for a third album. With song titles like "Metal Kombat," "Blind Man," and "Stupid Ideas" you know these guys mean business. No touchy-feely therapy lyrics on this album. There is room for growth here, but the passion and energy more than make up for any minor problems. If you are like me and you get the occasional itching for thrash that needs to be scratched this album will be your new friend. By Matt Crosslin (July 12, 2010)
