From Six Feet Deep's Myk Porter and Matt Traxler comes this swirling melodic mess of distortion pie.  It hits you in the face and boy, is it tasty!  Smooth whipped-cream vocal harmonies (compared to Myk's usual grating shouts) set back in the mix, lots of steady, thick guitar filling, and a crumbly crust of drums and bass.  Like pie, though, every bite tastes the same (not much song variety), and eventually I had my fill and this is best sampled a few songs at a time.  Still, it's heavy enough to be regular snacking for the hardcore fan, and light enough to inspire regular sampling by the more delicate music connoisseur.  Here's a lyric teaser, an exhortation to a struggling believer to endure:
do you care. do you try. do you live. do you want to live.
hold on brother of mine. try to see yourself from the inside.
    hold on brother of mine...

whatever happened to the reasons why we turned our lives around.
are you pretending it was all for nothing and all just wasted time.
doesn't that make you a liar.
do you remember when we said that we would never be torn away.
why can't you understand that what you've done doesn't have to be who you are.
    (from "Days End")
Their label lists Jawbreaker, Samiam, Chamberlain, Stavesacre, and Puller as reference points.  Sounds about right to me; one tune also sounds like  a heavy Better Than Ezra.  And don't miss the hidden track at the end, with the spooky chick vocals and relaxed, warped rhythms.  Anyways, be cool--buy a copy and smash your face in it.-----Josh Spencer
