Artist: Mayfair Laundry
Label: Organic Records

Modern rock outfit Mayfair Laundry is fronted by the very lovely Shannon Woolner.  That's the good news.  The rest is downhill from there.  Even the able production team of John and Dino Elefante at the boards couldn't help this band get much more from these songs.  Okay, the band is not that bad, and to be completely honest, I don't hate all the songs.  Singer Shannon occasionally sounds like Maria McKee (one of  my favorite female vocalists), and the band sometimes reminds one of No Doubt, because of the ska influences and the horn section in some of these songs, but sometimes good does not a good record make.  Half of the material here is just not very creative. I think if Mayfair Laundry got a hold of some better material and went more over to the Lone Justice sound instead of the high-pitched No Doubt sound, they  would do well.  Due to the production of the Elefantes, the naming of a song after a Woodstock era hippy cook ("Wavy Gravy"), and the few  other songs I did like...I'll be generous and rate this one:
