The Splinter Shards The Birth of Separation Zao Tooth and Nail Records This music is so brutal I thought my head would collapse like a soda
can in the hands of John Jacob's Power Team! After I cleaned up the
blood, I felt sorry for lead singer Shawn Jonas's tonsils; I'm sure they
wanted to pack their bags and live on the streets of Baltimore rather than
be treated like that! Mic Cox is the bass player, Roy Goudy plays
guitars and Jesse Smith is the drummer and wrote most of the lyrics here.
The lyrics are good; not death metal lyrics, per se, but more encouraging
than some thrash bands can be. They are appropriately heavy though, to
match the intense music. These guys must be supporting the local utility
companies with all the juice they're using. If you get bored with heavy
thrash bands, then this is not for you; but if you like the style, then
the scream in the break of "Repressed" is worth the price of admission.
