The Phantom Tollbooth

The Big Love
The Grace Project
Label: Grandma Katherine's
Length 12 tracks/50:31 minutes:

Consisting of twelve praise and worship songs revealing God's love for us, The Grace Project is a studio ensemble, brought together for the purpose of bringing this collection of songs to life in hip music for today. The singers and players include many artists in the central Ohio area. The album was produced by Neal Havener and Chuck Brown (Brown also served as chief songwriter and executive producer).  In addition to Brown's songs, there are covers of tunes by Randy Stonehill, Tim Sheperd, and other old timers.

This well-produced album is a blend of eclectic styles, including rock, jazz, pop ballads, and rap to name a few. This project will probably find as audience with those folks who are fond of the usual ccm style music. Those who want more cutting edge music should probably avoid this album. However, these talented artists succeed in showcasing  worship songs with a fresh feel to them. Some of these songs could well find their way into church worship sets as the songs are all in a very comfortable range for group singing with easy pickup refrains.
