Better Dayz K2S isn't in it for the Benjamins. They're in the game for Christ and Christ alone, and their fourth album, Better Dayz, features some great music from the group, as well as a pair of songs featuring guests from the world of Christian music. This group is the latest to be a part of "Six Degrees of Crystal Lewis." The lady who seems to be everywhere is here for a fantastic song called "How Deep is Your Love." Taking the song's tune and theme largely from the Bee Gees' classic, K-Buc and D-Smooth lay some phat lyrical stylings over the tune, and create a fantastic lead radio single. The Insyderz, who toured with K2S last spring, appear on "Common Ground," a strong plea for unity within the Christian community. It's all about the Christ Who has given us peaceEven without special guests, K-Buc and D-Smooth craft some fine rap music, full of tight, slow grooves reminiscent of God's Original Gangstaz: fine lyrical twists, cool pop-culture references to movies such as Titanic and Saving Private Ryan, and the occasional well-placed sample. For those who like their rap with the occasional melodic interlude, third member Jennifer Newman lets her voice shine in all the right places. My biggest gripe with the disc is the cover sheet. The lyrics are only present for two songs, the title track and "Common Ground." The liner text is printed in a dark gray color on a black background; I found myself squinting to read it. But the cover problem is a small one...what's on the disc is what's important, and what's on this disc is a great introduction to the recent resurgence of Christian rap. Josh Marihugh 9/19/99
I didn't like this album at all. The production was good, but the lyrics were as corny as a bowl of corn puffs. I've listened to two of K II S last albums and I don't know where they went wrong. Back to the drawing board, fellas. Maurice Lofton 10/28/99
