You may remember Katherine Whalen from the Squirrel Nut Zippers.
After recording three albums with them, Whalen is releasing a solo project
entitled Jazz Squad. Whalen has searched her personal record
collection and found a group of classic jazz songs from the 20's and 30's
which certainly suits her Billy Holiday-style singing. Robert Griffin on
piano, Zipper's Jimbo Mathus on guitar, and Cecil Johnson on tenor sax
do a great job accompanying her through this trip down memory lane. You'll
find plenty of variety here from the melancholy "Yesterdays" to the upbeat
"My Baby Just Cares for Me." Just the perfect thing to go with a nice romantic
evening for two.
