Live
One Night in Pennsylvania (video)
Artist: Newsboys Record Label: Sparrow Records Length: 85 minutes The Newsboys have an impeccable knack for making an audience cheer, jump and worship God. Their concerts have grown to be recognized as dynamic shows that don't wimp out on production efforts. On their latest video effort, a concert, they continue to establish themselves as leaders in Christian music. Live One Night in Pennsylvania was filmed--you guessed it!--in Pennsylvania on their Step up to the Microphone Tour. The set features classics like "Not Ashamed" and "Shine" (which, respectively, open and close the concert), as well as new songs, such as "Believe" and "Always." You can see the crowd go ecstatic when lead singer Peter Furler asks, "Can you...take me...to your leader?" or when the first couple of lines of "Reality" are played. Hands go into the air with "Entertaining Angels" and hundreds of people mosh away to "Spirit Thing" and "Everybody Gets a Shot (Truth Be Known)." There are quite a few hilarious moments, but the absolute highlight is a drum solo about mid-way through. Peter Furler hops up onto the drum podium where Duncan Phillips has already been busy wearing away the skins all night. Together they pound away. Slowly, the drum podium rises into the air. Before you know it, it’s spinning around at a 45° angle, while Furler and Phillips continue to punish the drums. It levels back off, but the two continue to play on until an abrupt stop, and Furler rises. The crowd cheers, but seemingly unimpressed, Furler sits down and the two start again. Not until the third time are Furler and Phillips satisfied and breathe a sigh of relief, while the crowd roars. Production is good, even though it will require you to turn the volume control up a bit. The singing comes across a bit low on several songs, but most of the time it works excellently. Camera work is amazing, with plenty of different view points (including a part during ‘Reality’ where Furler runs around, still singing, with a camera on his shoulder filming the band and the crowd). Live One Night in Pennsylvania will create new fans, renew old ones and give all-time fans something cool to enjoy. Buy it! Set List:
