Artist: Krush Label: Indie When one hears the words "hard rock" in describing a record these days, it usually spells the kiss of death for an album. Images of cheesy 80's arena-rock bands come to mind, as well as bands who fit the stereotypical hard rock/metal image many of us have come to find difficult to take seriously. Still, "hard rock" is the only term that can be used to describe
Krush's latest album, "Lost." But rather than performing outdated
music which will give even the most serious music lover the willies, this
five-man band from California plays a brand of music which is decidedly

"Lost" is a four-song EP which especially showcases two very talented guitarists in Lou Tamagni and Phil Castillo. "Lock and Load" is a fast and furious track with a number of guitar solos. The vocals are performed very well by Dave Meriweller. He does not need to use any vocal tricks to give any credibility to the delivery. He simply projects a voice which is extremely powerful and fits well with the genre. The title track is a darker ballad, as is "Beside Me." Although there are generally few criticisms which can be levied against this album, one may be that there are no lyrics included with "Lost." However, even a casual listen will reveal that Krush is particularly evangelistic in its lyric-writing. The title track has done well on the CCM charts, charting higher than established bands like Tourniquet, White Heart, and Dimestore Prophets. And though this album may not cater to everyone's musical tastes, anyone who is a fan of harder-edged rock, like Ransom and Blackball, will appreciate the talent of Krush.
