Miranda
Artist: Miranda
Label: Indie
Time: 12/52:25
This is the first solo release from Miranda Landers, formerly of
Everybodyduck, and is very different to that band's albums. The lyrics,
which were written by Tim Brinkman (also formerly of Everybodyduck), have
a youth leader feel to them:
I can't hold it back any longer
There's a feeling I've got inside
Every second it's growing stronger
This is something I just can't hide
And I've just got to holler, scream, and shout 'til I made you
understand...
I'm so happy since I found Jesus
Then there are the song titles: "I'm so Happy,"" I Surrender," "Open
Your Eyes," and "Anything for You." This feeling may persist because this
is where there heart is. As Everybodyduck, they spent last summer in a
youth camp setting. Miranda is basically an acoustic album with
some light rock. There's not a lot here for me as I prefer more intelligent
thoughtful lyrics, but if you like this kind of music this will please
you. It will probably do very well in the CCM marketplace--it has a safe
feel to it. Miranda has a nice voice although the first several tracks
sound very much alike--too much so for my tastes. The production and mix
are excellent. My feeling, though, is that most kids prefer the rougher
ska-style praise music.
