Child's Play Artist: Secondhand Soul Label: Indie Time: 11 tracks/48:18 Abrasive guitars, fairly deep vocals, and occasional dark imagery. This isn't metal--it isn't heavy enough--but it's on the heavier side of the modern rock market. The playing revolves around the competent vocals, but both elements are predictable and lacking flair. The lyrics vary from some unfortunately weak and cliched phrases, to strong words with good use of imagery. These guys need to work on developing their own, less predictable style, and would certainly benefit from a bigger budget and more help in the production department. Having said that, this should prove a good demo recording. By James Stewart |
